What is Goal of A PI?

There is a TV show called Cheaters, have you ever heard of it? It is a reality show set in Dallas in which scorned lovers hire a private investigation agency to inquire about their spouse or so-called soul mate to see if he/she is being disloyal. However, do PIs deal just with unfaithful lovers? What other work does a private investigator, or sometimes called a PI, investigate? I will try to explain the job and the role of a private investigator.
The aim of their work is to discover the truth. A private detective can only do his job properly by remaining impartial. Often, it is ironic that clients of private investigation firms do not want the truth, they just want to win. Like this attitude, some of the clients in the programme Cheaters have a hostile attitude. The line of work of a private detective and his agency is to reveal the facts and aid their client.
For the PI, exposing the truth is a double-edged sword. He or she is paid to not only reveal the facts but also revealing those facts can damage their client’s chances of winning, especially a lawsuit. The good news as well as the bad news need to be told to the clients. There is nothing worse for an attorney than to turn up at court and be confronted with some spiteful statement or fact that he should have been aware of. An attorney needs to gather all the facts in advance and that is why the private detective has been hired. Whatever the outcome, it is the private investigator’s job to discover the facts and let the case develop on its own.
Just because the other side of a lawsuit wins in court, that does not mean that the private eye did not do his job properly. It only means they performed their job to the highest standards for their profession and to the best of their knowledge. The decision of a judge or jury cannot be persuaded by a private detective can they?
